Tbilisi, Georgia, Dec.9 By Nana Kirtzkhalia – Trend: Hungary ratified the association agreements of the EU with Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova, the Georgian foreign ministry said Dec.9.

The agreements have already come into force, since the relevant document was signed by President of Hungary Janos Ader, said the ministry.

“These agreements are a new stage in our relationship and reflect our commitment to develop close relations based on shared values,” said the statement of the Hungarian foreign ministry.

“We are confident that the implementation of association agreements will help our partners not only on the European way, but will also promote national consolidation, social unity, as well as preserving the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of their countries.”

The association agreement with the European Union was signed in Brussels June 27, 2014 by Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

The document needs to be ratified by the parliaments of countries that have signed it, the European Parliament and the parliaments of the EU member states for its entry into force. The Georgian Parliament ratified the document July 18, 2014.

By this time, apart from Hungary, Georgia’s association agreement with the EU was ratified by another eight member countries of the European Union - Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia, Malta, Bulgaria, Estonia and Sweden.
