Tbilisi, Georgia, Oct. 26 By Nana Kirtzkhalia – Trend: The ‘United National Movement’ party of Georgian ex-president, Mikheil Saakashvili will hold a protest Nov. 15 on the Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, the country’s capital.

The party’s executive secretary, Zurab Japaridze said at a press briefing Oct. 25 that the protest is aimed at informing the Georgian authorities and international community that Georgia will never accept the ethnic cleansing in Abkhazia.

“Georgia will never accept the expulsion of half a million people from their lands and occupation-annexation of Abkhazia by Russia,” Japaridze said.

“We decided to hold the protest given the situation in the occupied Abkhazia, the fact that there is an attempt on the part of Russia to openly de jure annex Georgia’s sovereign territory, and taking into account that the authorities do nothing for this issue to be on international community’s agenda,” Japaridze added.

On behalf of the party, Japaridze called the society, non-governmental sector and the opposition forces to join this protest.

The announcement was made at the party’s central office in the presence of the leaders of the party and the parliamentary minority leader, Davit Bakradze.
