BRUNEIAN youth have vowed to unite and dedicate their time and effort to promote the implementation of Syariah Penal Code 2013, as part of a six-statement declaration handed over to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, reports the Brunai Times
The youth who took part in the Jalinan Akrab Belia Terunggul (Jabat) programme came up with the declaration to show their support and commitment toward Syariah law.
The declaration stated that the youth welcome and accept the enforcement of the Syariah Penal Code, and that they were prepared to dedicate their time, effort and ideas to promote its implementation.
The youth also declared that they will unite in giving and imparting the understanding of Syariah law to other youth and the community. They further stated that they will face criticism with wisdom, patience and rationality in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
They have also pledged to project a good image in accordance to the Malay Islamic Monarchy national ideology in accepting the Syariah Penal Code and to always provide motivation and increase community involvement in supporting the Islamic criminal law.
The declaration was read by Md Azizan Hj Abd Razak, a representative of the youths, before he handed it over to Permanent Secretary of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Hamid Hj Mohd Jaafar during the closing ceremony of the Jabat programme on Thursday.
“We hope we can share the knowledge and experience to our other friends. We also hope the concept of unity in this programme will be continued and practised,” said Hamiz Abd Hadi Hj Osman, another representative of the youth under the Jabat programme.
