Bahraini Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has urged Arabs to stand united and defend their common interests as the region embarks on a first Arab Court for Human Rights, it was reported, reports business.com

To be under the umbrella of the Arab League, the court will probe allegations of torture, discrimination and other violations lodged by Arab citizens.

Al Khalifa said the important of the initiative stemmed from the direct threat to countries’ sovereignty and security, Gulf Daily News reported.

Consolidation of joint Arab action had now become imperative, he said, though did not provide details as to what exactly the threats entailed.
