After New York, London, Amazon launches Blink in India

GURGAON, India - U.S. E-commerce company, Amazon has launched its third ever and first fashion imaging studio 'Blink' in India.

With India’s E-commerce fashion market expected to grow four times its current size, to around Rs 2 lakh crore by 2020, Amazon opened Blink in Gurgaon. 

This is the third such studio in the world with the first two being in New York and London. 

Amazon has said the studio is spread over 44,000 sq. ft. and is the first of its kind in the country.

Amazon has said that the fashion imaging studio is equipped to produce large volumes of high-quality images, by collaborating with various brands and partners. 

Further, the company revealed that the studio will have 16 photography bays, an editorial suite, video editing facilities and creative spaces.

So far this year, the company has added around 50 top fashion brands under its umbrella such as Steve Madden Jewelry, Juicy Couture Watches etc which debuted in India via Amazon.

The online platform is also offering other niche brands like New Balance, Forever 21, Forever New and Marks & Spencer.

Ritesh Mishra, the Head of Buying and Merchandising, Marks & Spencer India said in a statement that their association with Amazon Fashion allows them to reach a wide customer base across the country.

Mishra added that with an offering of over 1,500 styles on the website; they are able to make it more convenient for customers to shop quality clothing collections in India.

He further said, “The launch of the new Amazon Fashion Studio is really exciting and we’re looking forward to showcasing more of our latest styles and outfit ideas.”

A recent India Business of Fashion Report 2017 estimated that the Indian fashion retail market which was worth Rs 2,97,091 crore in 2016 will grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 9.7 per cent to reach Rs 7,48,398 crore by 2026. rise of some major players in the sector, including Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra among others.

In a statement, the Business Head of Amazon India, Arun Sirdeshmukh said, "At Amazon, we are always thinking about how we will raise the bar, how we will redefine the way the customer discovers, engages with, and shops for fashion online. All of our efforts we've made for this studio in terms of technology, scale and talent are designed to deliver high-quality imagery that inspires and educates our customers.”

He added, “With this studio, we will continue to strengthen our relationships across the entire industry - with brands, designers and creative talent. This is part of our plan to innovate in how fashion is displayed on the site and be the best possible place for fashion brands to present themselves online.”
