Cheema said, “Seven dead bodies have been brought to the Civil Hospital in Quetta and at least five people are in critical condition.”
According to television footage featured on local media showed emergency services rushing to the area which was covered in debris and security officials cordoning off the area.
Authorities said that rescue operations were underway and an emergency had been declared in hospitals of the city.
The local media also quoted DIG Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema as saying that an investigation is underway.
He said, “There were only general threats and no specific threat had been received” adding that officials are trying to determine whether the attacker managed to escape or got killed in the attack.
