A sinister alliance to terrorise the world is being forged

Militant Group recent attention

23 April BAGHDAD, Iraq - While the world’s attention is focussed on the terrorising acts of the Islamic State Militant Group or the ISIS, and occasionally on al-Qaeda’s acts of violence - very little attention is being paid to the newer forms of terror that might arise after ISIS is defeated. > BNN

In recent months, ISIS has suffered a huge defeat in Syria and Iraq - where it had held a strong foothold for years.

As the Syrian regime, backed by a coalition of some of the world’s superpowers intensify their battle to reclaim parts of their own territory that have been strongholds of the Islamic State militant organisation - another terror group is growing stealthily.

Meanwhile, al-Qaeda has made a terrifying resurgence in Yemen, west Africa, Afghanistan and other regions recently - including in Syria.

Now, citing regional contacts in the country, Iraqi Vice President Ayad Allawi has made a shocking revelation in an interview.

Claiming that fanatics acting on behalf of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi have been speaking with extremists close to the head of al-Qaeda Ayman al Zawahiri.

Their discussions are said to be aimed at forming a pact - joining hands to terrorise the world.

The two terror groups, considered to be the most deadly in the world today are working together to create a global terror army.

It was in 2014 that ISIS split from al-Qaeda. Since then, the two terror cults have waged in a bitter battle for recruits, money and other resources.

al Qaeda head Zawahiri had even criticised ISIS previously, for its extreme punishment methods, including beheading, burning and drownings.

al Qaeda has even refused to recognise ISIS’s self-declared caliphate in Iraq and Syria.

Experts believe that the animosity between the two groups could be fueled by competition to each be seen as the true leader of the Islamic jihadist cause.

However, with reports of the two terror groups now planning to merge and work together, have shocked many.

Allawi has said, “The discussion has started now. I don’t know exactly when, but there are discussions and dialogues between messengers representing Baghdadi and representing Zawahiri.”

ISIS has lost ground in Mosul, but still controls the towns of Qaim, Hawija and Tal Afar in Iraq ad Raqqa in Syria.

In recent months, ISIS has also made many shocking calls for lone wolf attacks in the west, especially in Europe - to expand its base of followers in the region.

Allawi warned that the barbaric terrorists would simply not go away.

He said, “I can't see ISIS disappearing into thin air. They will remain covertly in sleeping cells, spreading their venom all over the world.”

The claims also come in light of revelations made in explosive documents that were leaked to newspaper Al Sharq al Awsat.

The documents revealed that ISIS and al-Qaeda would be united fully by 2021.

Last month, Iraq’s prime minister called for more support from the international community to combat ISIS and Al Qaeda.
