The park, which was made with 60 million Lego bricks, boasting of Lego replicas of famous landmark monuments will have tickets starting at AED 295 for adults and AED 250 for kids respectively, and will operate between 10 am to 6 pm daily.

On the opening day of Legoland - children, parents, teenagers, reporters, bloggers, guests were welcomed by the Oompah Band, dancers entertained the crowd and popular characters from the hit Lego movies were seen ushering people in.

Legoland’s General Manager, Siegfried Boerst said, “A lot of things are happening already; we are not on our own. But it's not that we're in the desert anymore.”

Andrew Whitt, from Canada, who took his family to Legoland on its opening day was quoted as saying, “There is so much more for the kids. It’s nice to have more of this environment rather than just sit on a beach.”

What’s in it?

Dubai’s recent tourist attraction is home to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which was built using 536,292 pieces of lego blocks, spending more than 6,300 man hours; Burj Al Arab, weighing 680 kgs and made from 268,176 bricks which took workers 767 hours to build; Dubai Creek, Dubai Marina and the Dubai International Airport.

Legoland Dubai has 40 interactive rides, shows, attractions, building experiences and 15,000 Lego model structures.

However, many rides are still under supervision and are yet to open.

Some of the popular rides include the Power Tower, a seated ride that elevates to the top and then gently drops back to the ground. In the recently built Lego city, people can also fly a miniature plane at the City zone, within the mini airport. They can manoeuvre a boat or obtain a Lego driver’s license.

It also houses an amazing model of Petra which has grabbed the guest’s attraction.

On entry, guests can explore six themed lands, each offering entertainment and educational activities.

Inside the part of the Lego Kingdom, people would be able to enjoy the king’s castle too.

Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, inspected the finishing touches at the two zones.

CEO of DXB Entertainments PJSC, the owner of Dubai Parks and Resorts, Raed Kajoor Al Nuaimi said he was overwhelmed to see all the guests and visitors on the first day.

On the opening day Al Nuaimi said, “I’m immensely proud that today we start to welcome guests to ‘Experience Amazing’ at this incredible new destination. Riverland Dubai and Legoland Dubai will be unveiled for the very first time and offer unique experiences and entertainments that I genuinely believe will set the bar in this region. Nothing of this magnitude has ever been done before and after three years of hard work it is a great honour to start to show our guests what we have achieved. As the largest entertainment destination in the region, Dubai Parks and Resorts will support the UAE’s tourism vision and grow the family leisure industry in the region.”

John Jakobsen, Chief New Openings Officer, Merlin Entertainments, said, “We’re pleased to be able to bring the much-loved Legoland brand to Dubai, the first in the region, following the success of Legoland Parks in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. Dubai is a key holiday market, and we expect this new park to appeal to both domestic and international visitors.”
