Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb.18 /Trend N. Kirtskhalia/  On Monday, the Georgian parliament began discussion of the minority's legislative initiative on the immutability of the country's foreign policy. Constitutional amendments are being discussed at the joint meeting of the three committees - for Foreign Relations, European Integration and Diaspora Affairs and Caucasus.

Vice-Speaker, MP Giorgi Baramidze is the author of the draft law. He presented the initiative of the minority.

Under the draft law, Georgia will continue the path towards integration into Euro-Atlantic space and should never join the organisations of post-Soviet space. According to the draft law, Georgia will continue its policy of non-recognition of the occupied territories and will seek their early de-occupation. In addition, Georgia must never recognise the independence of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region, South Ossetia.

Today, the committees will discuss a 14-section document written by the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of Parliament Tedo Japaridze. It also identifies the foreign policy priorities of the country.
