Tehran, Iran, December 26 By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend: Qatar is seeking to buy soil from Iran to use it in 2022 world cup stadiums, Head of Iran’s Forests, Rangelands, and Watershed Organization Khodakaram Jalali said.

He added Qatar was seeking soil from Iran, Iraq, and some other countries, but Iran has refused to sell its soil, ICANA news agency reported December 26.

The export of arable soil is prohibited in Iran and is considered smuggling, but in the past few years, arable soil has been exported from Iran to Persian Gulf states.

Two years ago a spokesman for the Iranian Parliament’s Agriculture Commission said the country’s arable soil was being exported as sand, gravel, or mineral cargos to bypass the law.
