Death toll of UAE military personnel killed in Yemen rises to 69

The deaths have all occurred since June this year

ABU DHABI, UAE - The number of servicemen and servicewomen of the United Arab Emirates armed forces to have died in Yemen has risen to 69.

The deaths have all occurred since June this year during the course of the Saudi-led Operation Restoring Hope, a mission to restore the legitimate government of Yemen.

The body of Sultan Saeed Mohammed Al Mazrouei was received in a ceremony at Abu Dhabi on Sunday. The soldier had died late last week when his military vehicle overturned in Yemen. According to Wam, the state-owned news agency, Al Mazrouei's body was accorded a special military honour at the airport.

Abdulsalam Abdulkarim Abdulrahim Al Fuqaha of Al Ain also died this week while serving in Yemen.

The previous week five Emirati soldiers met their death including Warrant Officer Ahmed Khamis Malullah Al Hamadi, First Corporal Ali Khamis bin Ayed Al Ketbi, Sergeant Major Mohamed Khalfan Al Siyabi, and Warrant Officer Yousof Salem Ali Al Kaabi who died in the attack in Aden at the Al Qasr Hotel and Shaikh Bin Farid Palace when Yemeni Prime Minister Khalid Bahah escaped assassination.> BNN
