5th Command and Staff Course of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces wraps up in Muara

MUARA, Brunei - A ten months course staged by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces in conjunction with the Massey University of New Zealand ended on Saturday.

Taking part in the 5th Command and Staff Course of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces were officers of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Royal Brunei Police Force, Internal Security Department, military officers from Australia, Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom and the United States.

The participants were urged to adopt a compassionate approach to their military careers and to employ dialogue with their adversaries with a view to resolving conflicts before they emerged. They were also urged to consult with colleagues and form a collective consensus before arriving at conclusions and/or decisions.

"As middle managers, your experience should have shaped your full and comprehensive understanding on the military operational and tactical aspect and its effective deployment. But as future senior officers, you are required to have a more holistic understanding on their impact on the strategic aspect of national defence. Defence is a very expensive business, encompassing sophisticated military assets value in the multi-million dollar range," attendees were told.

Outstanding officers received their award from Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. Major Mohammed Hairy Erwandy bin Haji Raya of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces received the "RBAF Command and Staff Course Commendation Award."

The "Massey University Award for Academic Excellence Award"went to Squadron Leader Alan Bowers of the Royal Australian Air Force; and the "RBAF Command and Staff Course Overall Excellence Award was awarded to Major Ng Weng On Eric of the Singapore Air Forces.> BNN
